ATLAS E.P. invites you to the event “Woman and Disability”, occasioned by the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25th, organised by the Counselling Women Centre of Keratsini-Drapetsona Municipality.
The event’s venue will be accessible to people with moving impairments and ATLAS E.P. will provide the event with interpreting in the Greek Sign Language.
The aim of the event is to highlight the meeting point of sex and disability - for disabled women, for women taking care of loved ones with disabilities, for women living under an abusive state or women who have become disabled after experiencing abuse.
Participating in the event:
Cool Crips group with their presentation “Sex and Disability - The story of Lame Maria”, a creative intervention deconstructing stereotypes and highlighting experiences from disabled women through a contemporary, assertive perspective.
Miss Eleni Nestora, Para Taekwondo champion, who will share her personal journey, hardships and accomplishments, giving a message of strength, resilience and overcoming obstacles.
Through the speeches and the sharing of experiences, the event aspires to:
to boost the visibility of disabled women
to highlight the need for equal access to public space
to promote empowerment and self-determination
to invite society to take an active stance against gender violence
Elimination of violence against women should be about all women – without exception.
The event will take place at the 1st Lyceum of Keratsini
