For the second time, Athens’ City Kolonos Festival hosts universally accessible performances by ATLAS E.P.
Molière’s timeless work “The Imaginary Invalid” will be performed on 12 September with Greek Sign Language interpreting, surtitling for equal access, and audio description by ATLAS E.P. A tactile tour will take place one hour before the performance starts.
A few words about the performance:
This global comedy masterpiece talks about something deeply humane: health anxiety, the anxiety around illness, the insecurity that all of us have experienced more or less. Because no matter how strong we might seem, we’re still vulnerable. Our protagonist, Argan, experiences this anxiety to the extreme, convinced that every one of his symptoms is a herald of death. Through exaggeration and witty humor, Moliere mocks our obsessions while, at the same time, he saves us from them…
“The Imaginary Invalid” returns to remind us, with humour and tenderness, that perhaps the best medicine against our fears is to laugh at them… over and over!
