INFORMATION ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE

"The Diaries of Frederic Chopin" is a masterpiece performance with the leading pianist Tatiana Papageorgiou and actor Andrea Constantinou that brings to life the travels, personal diaries, experiences and inspiration of Frédéric Chopin’s work.

Andreas Constantinou, in an acting recital, embodies Frederic Chopin, the legend of Romanticism, who at a young age escaped from the burning and occupied by the Russians Warsaw with his manuscript music sheets and his father’s blessing as his sole possessions and boarded the train to Vienna and later Paris.

He began a journey of life and creative inspiration, spreading his wings chasing his dream in the musical capitals of Europe, Vienna and Paris. Very quickly, he conquered the most important musical centers as well as the salons of the nobility and leading artists in Paris, such as Victor Hugo, Eugène Delacroix, Honoré de Balzac, Hector Berlioz, Heinrich Heine, George Sand, Franz Liszt etc.

His passing and his deeply inspired work left a strong mark on world music history and the timeless art of piano. Chopin distinguished himself as the most important and most inspired pianist and composer of Romantic piano music, who dedicated his life and career to music but also to the ideal of the liberation of his homeland, writing almost exclusively for the piano and incorporating with imagination, expressiveness and refined taste genuine elements of the traditional music of his homeland, Poland, in the works he composed. He created music of incomparable melodic beauty and brilliant virtuosity, music that moves every listener and remains unsurpassed to this day.

The performance "The Diaries of Frederic Chopin" is a revealing dialogue between theatrical and musical art, a dialogue with highly demanding performances that unfold the musical creation and thinking of the brilliant composer. With Andreas Constantinou portraying Chopin, an actor of profound expressive power and interpretative skill, who conveys the subtle nuances of the composer's psyche.

Tatiana Papageorgiou will perform at piano the composer's works. She is an accomplished performer who has studied at great Romantic music schools and performs the famous piano works of Frédéric Chopin with rare sound quality and beauty.

The performance was conceived by Tatiana Papageorgiou, who studied Chopin’s archives while travelling to Warsaw and has performed Chopin’s works in collaboration with international orchestras at the Herodeon, including the Warsaw National Symphonic Opera, while she has performed Chopin’s piano works at the Athens Concert Hall, the Thessaloniki Concert Hall etc.
